Eric Eversole Congratulatory Message

The first time I met Secretary McDonald, it was not long after he became the secretary of Veterans Affairs, and in that first meeting, it was very clear that he was a different type of leader. He obviously was concerned about the larger macro issues impacting veterans and their families. But I could tell that he cared deeply about how individual policies impacted veterans across the country, and he wanted to make sure that they would be taken care of in the way that they so richly deserved. It was a time when veterans and their families needed that level of care and attention, and he delivered on all fronts. But Bob’s level of commitment to veterans and their families has continued long after his service at the VA with his work with hiring our heroes and organizations like the Elizabeth Dole Foundation and the Bush Institute, secretary McDonald continues to give back to the veterans and their family members that he cares so deeply about.

Secretary McDonald, as President Bush said, you’re not done yet, but we do want to congratulate you on receiving the 2021 Hiring Our Heroes President’s Award for Lifetime Achievement.
